Heavy presents DJ FU [Freerange/UK]

DJ FU @ HEAVY HK – D&B History Set (1998 – 2002) feat. MC R VEE (2 HOURS)

Having been absent from Hong Kong for the last year; the fish ball eating, lemon tea drinking, half HK half UK funny man returns. This time, HEAVY has him doing something a little different. DJ FU will be paying homage to what many call the golden era of Drum and Bass. An era where Bad Company were kings and DJ Zinc was a D&B DJ. An era where Drum and Bass would scare your parents and get you alienated at school. An era where tape packs were used as prison currency. An era that DJ FU holds close to his heart and an era that for one night, we will all re-live again.

DJ FU has ripped dance floors from LA to Hong Kong. Anyone that has seen DJ FU knows what to expect and for those of you that don’t, expect 2 hours of stupidly quick fire mixing & scratching that is set to blow the roof off XXX. If you don’t believe us, check the video from last time DJ FU was in Hong Kong.

DJ Fu has played in many cities across the globe including London, Hong Kong, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Manchester in world class venues such at Matter, Ministry of Sound, The End as well as at various promotions including Marky and Friends, Mixmag, Metropolis, Urban Nerds, Ape, One Nation.

Fu is one of the few Drum & Bass DJ’s of recent times who has managed to be recognised purely for his talent on the decks. After winning a DJ competition for Source, DJ Fu won a residency at Oxford’s most prestigious drum and bass night, following in the footsteps of Total Science, Baron and DJ Lee who have all held residencies there.

DJ Fu’s scratching has featured on films, the computer game DJ Hero as well as 1xtra award winning album – Now More Than Ever by Logistics (Hospital Records). He has recently been commissioned by Lacoste to do a mix cd to accompany a limited edition trainer the ‘Mississippi DSM’.

Having been given the opportunity to support London Elektricity Live, DJ Fu’s career took a sudden twist. Jungle Drummer watched DJ Fu on the decks as he packed his drum kit away, was very impressed with what he heard and asked Fu to join his Drummer vs. DJ project.

DJ Fu and Jungle Drummer have been widely recognised as the most successful Drummer & DJ combo in the world, having toured the USA and Europe, as well as playing prime time slots at Global Gathering, Glastonbury, Warehouse Project, Gatecrasher and many more.

Knowledge Magazine named DJ Fu as ‘One to Watch’ also touting him as one of the most exciting Drum & Bass DJs in the country. At the same time ATM magazine also recognised DJ Fu as a leader of the new school and he received nominations for ‘Best Newcomer DJ’ and ‘Best Live Act’ at the Drum & Bass awards.

DJ Fu has worked with MCs such as Stamina MC, Deeizm, Lowqui. He has also worked with beat boxers such as Beardyman at the legendary Battle Jam. DJ Fu has worked as Rodney P’s tour DJ when Skitz has not been available. He has also worked in Barry Ashworth’s Dub Pistols as a scratch DJ and member of the band.

All this recognition without any production credits to his name is a testament to DJ Fu’s skills, energy and excitement on the decks. However, recently DJ Fu has also been turning his hand to production and has just signed his first release, collaborating with friend ‘DJ Clart’, to Influenza recordings. He is already working on future releases and is looking to tear up dance floors all over the world.
